What is the best way to clean luxury vinyl flooring?

One of the many benefits of luxury vinyl is its easy care, needing only a regular sweeping (daily, if possible) and periodic damp mopping. Everyday sweeping may seem excessive, but there's a good reason to do it; sand and dirt are sharp and can scratch the floor.

Please continue reading to hear some of our cleaning tips, but, especially if you haven't seen luxury vinyl yet, come into our showroom to explore our inventory with such brands as Beauflor, COREtec, Armstrong, Karastan-LuxeCraft, and more.

One of the best cleaners

First, give the floor a thorough sweeping, getting into corners and crevices where dirt can hide. Damp-mop with a manufacturer-approved cleaner, or make your own with a cup of apple cider or white vinegar per gallon of hot water. When diluted, vinegar has enough acid to break up grime and bacteria without being so acidic that it will harm the floor. At the same time, white vinegar also acts as a disinfectant.

If the floor is really dirty, you might want to add a drop of dishwashing liquid. Wring well, and change water frequently. Tough stains can be removed with a baking soda/water mixture or diluted alcohol or hydrogen peroxide.

What is luxury vinyl?

True-to-life images are taken with 3D photography and come with micro beveling and embossing. All of this adds up to incredibly realistic floors that have depth, dimension, and textured looks, such as wire-brushed, hand scraped, weathered, and distressed. As an added aesthetic, the vinyl can be cut into planks to mimic hardwood, called luxury vinyl plank or LVP, or groutable tile-sized squares called luxury vinyl tile or LVT.

This vinyl is five times thicker than the original product and comes with a top transparent melamine wear sheet that protects the floor from scratches and scuffs with a urethane finish on top of that to add extra shine and strength. Installation is fast and easy, especially when it's a floating floor where the pieces click together, mat, and then hover over a clean, dry, and level subfloor.
